Homemade lap siding jig. With this unique jig cut lap siding up to 9 22 5cm wide with taper widths down to a feather edge. The width of your rabbets can be anywhere from 1 2 in. A super simple jig to mill tapered clapboard siding. Make shiplap siding and cedar shake shingles quickly and easily.
Cut two pieces of 1 2 inch thick plywood to 1 inch wide and 3 inches long. We finally finished the studs this week and moved on to something a bit more interesting. Measure the width of the hardieplank. The depth of the rabbets should be exactly half the thickness of your lumber.
Two jigs per set. With the width the same on both sides of your board you can adjust the reveal between boards when you install the decorative shiplap siding. To make a more traditional shiplap joint simply cut one rabbet at 1 2 in. Reconfigure the jigs and make cedar shake shingles 9 22 5cm wide and up to 16 40cm long each pass makes two shingles.
