If the siding starts to crumble on its own spray it with your detergent mixture. Wrap asbestos siding in 6 mil thick plastic sheeting and secure the plastic with duct tape or place the debris in heavy duty plastic bags.
Put the asbestos siding or roofing material in sealed plastic bags and dispose of it properly at a landfill designed to handle hazardous waste. Spray the back of each piece once it s removed and carefully place it on the plastic sheet. This will help decrease the number of asbestos particles in the air as you remove the siding. Use the hammer to remove any nails that are holding the siding in place.
Do not throw or drop removed asbestos siding. Use the pry bar and the hammer to start taking off the siding. This will help prevent breaking the siding and releasing asbestos dust. Breakage releases asbestos fibers.
If siding should begin to crack or crumble immediately wet the cracked or broken areas with the pint size spray bottle or garden pump sprayer. Wet the back of each piece of siding as it is removed. Use the pry bar to get up under the edge of the siding and take it off of the side of the house. Spray down all the siding you will be removing with water to minimize dust.
Work from the top down removing the snails to keep from breaking the asbestos siding.
