High Humidity Attic Winter

The results are that the attic temperature is close to the outside temperature but the relative humidity is significantly higher in the attic than either the indoor or outdoor readings. For example if the indoor temperature is 70 degrees and the outdoor temperature is 20 degrees then the recommended humidity.

Why is that important. A home with a healthy humidity level can have numerous benefits. If it dips below 30 it s much too dry and if it s above 50 the high humidity may start to feel uncomfortable. During the winter months the recommended relative humidity inside a house is anywhere between 30 50 percent.

If there is excessive moisture accumulation in your attic it will condense on cold areas mainly on the underside of your roof deck. The main goal is to keep your attic temperature the same as the outside air temperature in the summer as well as in winter.

If your home humidity level stays around 45 your living environment will be cleaner safer healthier.
